LISD Named District of Distinction in Visual Arts

Lorena ISD has been named a District of Distinction in Visual Arts by the Texas Art Education Association for the third year in a row. Over 1,200 districts were eligible to apply for the award. LISD is one of 109 districts that will receive this outstanding honor for the 2025-2026 academic year showing the district is in the top eight percent of districts in the state in art education.

Lorena ISD met or exceeded a 14-point rubric to win this TAEA award that included areas such as advocacy, participation in statewide visual arts contests at all levels, district and community art events, cross curricular activities with other disciplines. “I am very proud of all the hard work of the students of Lorena ISD and I am grateful to the visual art teachers at each level who have made achieving this designation possible,” Lorena High School Art teacher Brittany Sciacca said. “This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and support of our district and community to providing a high quality art education to every Lorena ISD student."

The 109 districts, including Lorena ISD, will receive their TAEA District of Distinction Awards Ceremony during the TAEA Fall Conference on Friday, November 13, 2026 in Galveston.
