PUBLIC NOTICE:  Lorena ISD Application for ESSER II and ESSER III Grants &

 Public Hearing Regarding Federal Grant Funding Applications for the 2020-2021 School Year

Lorena Independent School District is applying for ESSER II (Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations) and ESSER III (American Rescue Plan Act) Federal Grant funding.  These grants provide funding for the district to address student learning loss due to COVID-19 and provide for the safe re-opening and continued operations of the school district.  ESSER funds also allow for expenditures in other areas related to COVID-19 issues such as mental health, facilities repairs, and improvements, retaining employees, and teacher support.

A public hearing regarding Lorena ISD’s Federal Grant Applications for the 2021-2022 school year will be held at Lorena Middle School (Library) on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 7:00 PM.  Public participation and comment is welcome.

Grant Summary:

Grant period ESSER II:   Pre-award costs allowed beginning March 13, 2020. With continued expenditures allowed until September 30, 2022. Under the Tidings Act, districts may be allowed to extend the expenditure period through September 30, 2023.

Grant period ESSER III:   Pre-award costs allowed beginning March 13, 2020. With continued expenditures allowed until September 30, 2023. Under the Tidings Act, districts may be allowed to extend the expenditure period through September 30, 2024.

Districts are required to follow federal, state, local, and grant-specific regulations and guidelines for federal grant administration and allowable expenditure of funds.

District entitlements for ESSER grants are as follows:

o   ESSER II (CRRSA)           $   452,808

o   ESSER III (ARP)            $1,016,943
